Student Growth & Achievement

Goal

Students progress in their learning, relative to identified provincial learning outcomes and consistent with their needs, interests and aspirations.

Outcomes

  • Students use ongoing assessment feedback to reflect continuously on their progress, identify strengths and areas of need and set new learning goals.
  • Students achieve prescribed provincial learning outcomes, demonstrating strengths in literacy and numeracy.
  • Students are active, healthy and well.
  • Students apply knowledge, understanding and skills in real life contexts and situations.
  • Students advance reconciliation by acquiring and applying foundational knowledge of First Nations, Métis and Inuit experiences.
  • Students demonstrate understanding and respect for the uniqueness of all learners.

Primary Strategies

 
 
  • To encourage and provide opportunities for students to network with town employers that could lead to a better understanding of personal "strengths and areas of need and set new learning goals".

OnGoing Strategies

 
              
  • Analyze DIP results to inform best practices and target needs.
  • To continue "in-school" volunteer and leadership opportunities that will encourage students to apply "knowledge, understanding and skills in real life contexts and situations".  Ex. "Recycle program"
  • Identify resources, learning activities and professional development opportunities to support student and staff in the acquisition reconciliation and FNMI knowledge.

Performance Measures

 

Domain Two Local Measures:

  • Have 1 volunteer opportunity per semester for BSO students. Student population volunteer hours target per year = High School volunteer credit accumulation (5 credits = 75 hours - 20% of student population.
  • Student  Gr 7-12 Q8 How satisfied are you that the school provides your child with activities that promote responsible citizenship, volunteerism, and community service? - 100% very satisfied or satisfied - Goal 100%
  • Teachers Q37 - How satisfied are you the school Division is a good place to teach, learn and grow? 100% very satisfied - Goal 100%
  • Support Staff - Q23 How satisfied are you the school Division is a good place to teach, to learn and grow? 100% satisfied - Goal 90%
  • Parent Q18 How satisfied are you that your child is being challenged and encouraged by his or her teachers to achieve high standards?  - 100% very satisfied or satisfied - Goal 100%

  • 5 Year Completion Rates 86.2% Province, 51% BSO - 75%
